Gap filling is an option that many of our customers opt for as it helps create a continuous flat finish to their floor, while increasing insulation by reducing unwanted drafts. If the uniform look is what you are after then floor2restore can offer two methods for achieving this.
For the best result, and to fill larger gaps, we insert wood slivers which are glued into place between the floor boards. These are chiselled back then sanded flush to the floor boards to achieve a smooth, level finish.
Gap filling a wood floor with slivers has the added benefit of keeping floor boards held tightly against one another helping to prevent timber movement.
For smaller, narrow gaps we mix a resin with sawdust reclaimed from the sanding of the wood to maintain a colour match.
While this is a cost effective solution, timber remains a natural material and can move over time with the possibly of gaps reappearing.
